Ronald Reagan previously held the title of oldest person to become president. Reagan was 69 when he took the oath of office, while Trump was 70. Reagan was 78 when at the end of his second term, making him the oldest person to leave office.
IFollowing the shooting at the Republican congressional baseball game practice on Wednesday, the White House canceled all of Trump's public events for the day. The president gave a televised speech, expressing sympathy for the victims and calling for the country to come together.
The former real estate mogul and TV personality has previously hosted decadent parties in the past. On his 42nd birthday, the Washington Post reported, a 15-foot mock spaceship appeared to hover off the ground with smoke in one of his casinos.
His supporters tweeted him well wishes for his birthday. Last week, first lady Melania Trump sent an email to her supporters requesting them to digitally sign a card for him.
But his opposition had their own celebrations in mind. The group Rise and Resist is holding a “#SadBirthday” party outside of Trump Tower in New York. Their proposed gift for the president, who is currently embroiled in investigations of alleged links between his administration and Russia: a plane ticket there.
